Treeing Walker Coonhound / Mixed Dog

Harriett the Dog needs a home

Harriett arrived in PA last weekend after traveling from WV. She is a 6 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound, weighing about 53lbs. This beautiful girl spent her life in horrific conditions, as you can see from the photos. No food, and filthy water not fit for any living being. Now she's safe and is looking for a foster or adopter. We know Harriett is good with other dogs and older children. Harriett wasn't alone...there were about 15 other dogs rescued from this situation. Her current kennel arrangements are a huge step up from her prior conditions but it can't compare to the comfort of a home and family.

She had an overnight visit to one of our temporary foster families and she did fantastic. She was gentle and more than content to pick a comfy dog bed or bean bag to curl up and rest. She has no prior expectations of living on furniture, so the couch was not even a consideration. She enjoyed some toys, perhaps for the first time, and was excited to try every bone on the bin. She is food motivated which helped teach her to climb the stairs in order to get a well needed bath. She was crated at night - a very large crate for her big size and didn't seem to mind. She allowed for some nail grooming and enjoyed lots of loving from the kids. She is a big goofy gal who has weathered a lot. Now it is time for humanity to shine on her.
